If there's one question we've received in the last four months, it's this: "I'm switching to Fuji — what lenses should I buy?" Of course, which lenses you choose depends entirely on what kind of photography you do. I can only speak from my own experience, but here's what I'd suggest based on my own shooting.

Portrait Lenses

For portraiture, my top recommendation is the Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R. It delivers beautiful subject separation and creamy bokeh that flatters any portrait subject. It's been my go-to portrait lens since I moved to the Fuji system.

If you want something a bit longer, the FUJINON XF 90mm F2.0 R LM WR is an outstanding alternative. It's weather-resistant, fast-focusing, and razor-sharp — ideal for tighter headshots or when you need more working distance.

Wide-Angle Options

On the wide end, the Fujinon XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS zoom covers an extremely useful range for landscapes, interiors, and architecture. The optical stabilization helps when shooting handheld in dim conditions.

If you prefer primes, the Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R is compact, sharp, and has minimal distortion — a favorite among Fuji shooters who want a fast wide prime. Also worth considering: the Fujifilm XF 16mm F1.4 R WR, which adds weather resistance and a full stop of extra speed.

Standard Zoom Choices

For a walk-around zoom, the Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4.0 R LM OIS is a solid kit-lens upgrade that punches well above its weight. If you need constant aperture and pro-grade build, the FUJINON XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR is the premium choice — though it's larger and heavier.

Disclosure: I am not sponsored by Fuji and receive no payment to recommend their gear. These opinions are based on my personal experience shooting with Fuji X-Series cameras and lenses.
