Fuji (on Dec 16) released new FW. Several of you delighted in saying “I told you so” when this happened but you must have misread our earlier post . We never said there would be no new firmware. We merely said it would not be announced on the 11th (it wasn’t) and that it wouldn’t come on the 17th (it didn’t.) Additionally the crux of our post about that rumor and others is that people should be happy with what they have and stop living in the future.

Now on to the changes…

Using a flashgun in Bracketing / Continuous shooting Optional flashguns can be used for bracketing and burst photography. When using the EF-X8, which is bundled with the X-T1, the flash fires in ISO, FILM SIMULATION and WHITE BALANCE BKT modes. *A flashgun may not fire in case it is not charged enough between shootings. And continuous shooting in CL and CH mode becomes slow when Focus mode is AF-C.

2. Instant AF Setting in manual focus Focus and exposure can be locked when the AF-L button is used in manual focus mode. You can shoot after locking AF and AE with your thumb.

3. AF+MF operation with AF-L button The AF-L button can be used to lock focus in AF+MF mode and you can adjust the focus more accurately using the lens’s focusing ring.

4. Focus zoom in AF+MF The FOCUS ASSIST button can be used for focus zoom and you can focus using the lens’s focusing ring with focus zoom activated.

5. Additional Custom Display options Functions have been added to the DISP. CUSTOM SETTING option in the setup menu.

Additional Items: FOCUS FRAME / CONTINUOUS MODE / SHOOTING MODE / DUAL IS MODE / INFORMATION BACKGROUND / MOVIE MODE / FOCUS MODE / BLUR WARNING / SHUTTER TYPE

6. The Fn7 Button The movie-record button doubles as an Fn button (Fn7). Press and hold DISP/BACK to select what it controls.

George Sass says: December 18, 2015 at 1:59 pm Fuji is making it harder for me to hold onto all my Nikon gear. These upgrades make a very good camera even better and all at no extra cost. Having used my XT-1 for a few months, I occasionally thought, “Gee, I wish it could do this….or that.” No big deals, but just a few things that would improve the way I use it. And now I see these very items are part of the FW V4.2. Wow. Fuji must be listening. Bravo Fuji! Like Like Reply

The prior release always seemed to out think mr (not difficult most days) on which focus point to select within the zone. Now it it always seems to pick the focus point nearest to the camera. For the moment I have given up on zone and gone back to single point. To be fair all my testing has been in low light. If the sun come out again, I will try in better light. Like Like Reply
